What is Kayn?
Kayn’s Lore.
Kayn is a Darkin Blade, one of the last remaining members of an ancient and powerful race that was nearly wiped out by the Void. He was once a great warrior who fought against the Void, but he was corrupted by their power and became a servant of the dark forces. Kayn now seeks to destroy all life in Runeterra, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

The Best Kayn Strategies.
The Shadow Reaper.
The first and most common Kayn strategy is to play as the Shadow Reaper. This involves taking full advantage of Kayn’s unique abilities to stealthily take down enemies. One of the key things to remember when playing as the Shadow Reaper is to always stay hidden as much as possible, using bushes and tall grass to your advantage. Another important thing to remember is that you need to be very patient when stalking your prey; rushing in will usually mean getting killed.
There are two main ways to take down an enemy as the Shadow Reaper. The first is to wait for them to be alone, then ambush them from behind and quickly kill them before they can react. The second way is to wait for them to be engaged in combat with another player, then use your stealth abilities to get behind them and finish them off while they’re distracted.
Which method you use will depend on both the enemy’s position and how many allies they have with them. If you can’t get behind an enemy without being seen, it’s usually best to just wait for them to be alone so you canAmbushthem. However, if there are multiple enemies grouped up together, it’s often betterto try and pick one off while they’re distracted by their teammates.
The Rhaast.
The second Kayn strategy is known as “The Rhaast”. This revolves around taking advantage of Kayn’s transformation into the demonic Rhaast form in order to deal massive amounts of damage very quickly. The key thing to remember when playing as the Rhaast is that you needto make sure you kill your enemies before they have a chanceto kill you; this means being very aggressive and not giving them any time to react.
One of the best ways to do this is by using Kayn’s ultimate ability, which allows him to teleport short distances and deal huge amounts of damage upon arrival. This can be usedto instantly close the gap between you and an enemy, orto surprise enemies who are tryingto flee from you. Another useful ability for the Rhaast is Darkin Blade, which allows Kayn toeither steal health from his victimor heal himself if he’s low on health himself; this can be crucial for staying alive in a fight.
The Darkin.
The third and final Kayn strategy is known as “The Darkin”. This revolves around using Kayn’s transformation into the powerful Darkin form in order to slowly but surely take down enemies. The key thing to remember when playing as the Darkin is that you needto be very patient; unlike the Rhaast, you won’t be able to kill enemies instantly, so you needto wait for the right opportunity to strike.
One of the best ways to do this is by using Kayn’s ultimate ability, which allows him to become invisible for a short period of time. This can be usedto either get behind enemy lines or to ambush enemies who are tryingto flee from you. Another useful ability for the Darkin is Blade’s Reach, which allows Kaynto extend his blade and hit enemies from a distance; this can be great for picking off fleeing enemies or hitting enemies who are hiding behind cover.
How to Counter Kayn.
Countering The Shadow Reaper.
The first thing to understand when countering the Shadow Reaper is his kit and how it works. His Q, W, and R all work together to deal massive damage and secure kills. His Q, Reaping Slash, deals physical damage and applies a stack of Umbral Toxin. His W, Blade’s Reach, increases the range of his next basic attack or Q and slows the target hit. And his R, Shadow Assault, dashes forward and deals physical damage to all targets in a cone. If any target hit has 3 stacks of Umbral Toxin they are rooted for 1.5 seconds as well.
Now that we know his kit, let’s talk about how to counter it. The best way to do so is by kiting him and using your own abilities to harass him while he’s trying to farm with his Q or W. If you can keep him from getting those 3 stacks of Umbral Toxin then he won’t be able to use his R effectively and you’ll be able to easily take him down in a fight. Another thing to keep in mind is that Kayn’s ultimate makes him invulnerable for a short period of time so if you’re trying to kill him wait until it wears off before attacking.
Countering The Rhaast
The Rhaast is a bit different than the Shadow Reaper in terms of how you need to counter him. The biggest thing you need to be aware of is his E, Devastating Strike, which allows him to dash forward and deal physical damage plus a percent of the target’s maximum health as bonus magic damage. This move can easily take down squishy targets if they’re not careful but there are ways to counter it.
One way is by using crowd control abilities like stuns or slows on him when he uses Devastating Strike so he can’t reach his target or get away easily afterwards. Another way is by kiting him with long-range abilities or auto attacks so he can’t get close enough to use Devastating Strike effectively. Finally, try building some magic resistance if you’re having trouble dealing with the bonus magic damage from his Devastating Strike since that will help reduce its overall effectiveness against you.
Countering The Darkin
The last form of Kayn you need to be aware of is the Darkin form which is most similar to the Shadow Reaper form in terms of kit but with some key differences. One difference is that instead of applying Umbral Toxin with his Q, Reaping Slash, he now applies Dread Mark which reduces healing received by the target hit for 4 seconds as well as giving Kayn bonus movement speed when near low health enemies marked with Dread Mark . Additionally ,his W now deals more damage based on how low health the target hit is . Because of these changes ,when countering the Darkin you wantto focus on two things : preventing him from marking targets with Dread Mark ,and reducing healing effects on yourself and your team so he can’t take advantageof them . Some waysyou can do this areby using cleanse abilities orexhaustioneffects onhim whenhe usesReaping Slashto mark someone ,or building itemslike Morellonomiconwhichreduce enemy healing effects . Additionally ,tryto stay atfull healthwhenever possiblesoyou don’t givehimthe movement speed boostand makeit harderforhimto catchup toyour team ifyou needto retreat .
Kayn is a powerful champion that can be played in a variety of ways. The three most popular Kayn strategies are The Shadow Reaper, The Rhaast, and The Darkin. Each of these strategies has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it’s important to choose the right one for the situation.
When playing against Kayn, it’s important to know which strategy they are using and how to counter it. Countering The Shadow Reaper involves shutting down their early game, while countering The Rhaast requires taking away their escape options. Finally, countering The Darkin is all about surviving their initial burst damage.
No matter what strategy you use, Kayn is a force to be reckoned with on the Rift. So make sure you’re prepared before stepping into the fray.
